“You should hire a worker from Casa Latina because Casa Latina is an awesome organization that gives people who are immigrants and others an opportunity to get work in this country. It’s a really awesome atmosphere; everyone is really welcome here. It’s a great place for people to come, especially when they are leaving their country and needing to come to a new place to have a community. So yeah, definitely hire a worker from Casa Latina.” – Olivia
Cameron’s testimonial
I have volunteered at Casa Latina’s Workers’ Center every week for the last 7 years. Over that time I have gotten to know many of the wonderful people who come here to look for employment. Casa Latina’s workers are dedicated, hardworking and kind men and women who are here in the United States seeking a better future for their families. I feel lucky to know these amazing people, and to learn about their lives and their struggles as immigrants in the United States. It is an honor to contribute a few hours each week to help them find work; I know that when a worker at Casa Latina gets a job through our Workers’ Center, it helps not only that one person, but also his or her entire family – whether that family is in Seattle or in another country, thousands of miles away.
Another part of my volunteer work that I really enjoy is talking with and meeting the people in our community who hire workers from Casa Latina. These homeowners and small business owners are happy to be getting important work done while at the same time supporting the immigrant community in the Seattle area. I often take calls from employers who want us to know what a great job their workers have done. Workers that are assigned to one-time jobs through Casa Latina frequently end up working regularly for the same employer for many years.
I encourage you to hire a worker from Casa Latina the next time you need painting, yard work, house cleaning, moving, or another job done at your home or business. And for anyone who would like to connect with immigrants in our community, learn or practice Spanish, and support the work of a great organization, please get in touch with Casa Latina to inquire about volunteer opportunities!
